I lived in Thailand for a year and a half.  Believe all of the fairy tales: Thailand is a paradise.  I had such a great time there.  I came back to the US to get my PhD so that I could continue working in the field that I loved so much.  

Tibet had been on my list for as long as I had one.  Check.
